1. Practice. Contour line drawings are continuous, one-line drawings that follow the edges of contours of a viewed object. The artist's eyes follow the curves of the edge of the object while his hand draws the exact curve onto the paper. Watch the video to see a contour line drawing in action! 2. Create. Using the continuous contour line method, draw 3 self portraits using a mirror in your sketchbook. Try different perspectives (three-quarter, profile, front-view) and different facial expressions. Using the light table, creat one by tracing the contour of a photograph of your face. Remember-Do not pick up your pencil!

3. Final Paper. Choose your best three drawings and trace them onto large paper. Overlap to give your composition more interest. Add line weight (with sharpie), watercolor, and pattern in the negative spaces for contrast.
