1. Research- What is a torn-paper collage? A collage (from the French word "coller" meaning "to glue") means to use a gluing technique where pieces of paper are assembled and adhered to create art.

2. Get Inspired! Look at examples below and think of an interesting animal to portray. Find a color picture of your animal from the animal pictures supplied in class. Lightly sketch your animal drawing on drawing paper.
3. Create! Begin collecting colors and values from magazines. Hold up the pages to your reference photo to match not only color, but also value (how light or dark the color is), When you have enough collected, glue the pieces onto the background first. Remember to overlap so that no paper is showing. Continue onto the foreground when the background is complete.
