What is an AGAMOGRAPH? Well, first, let me introduce you to artist Yaacov Agam. Below is a video taken of Yaacov Agam with his fountain artwork in Tel Aviv, Israel. Agam relates his work to Judaism and constant change. Listen how he talks about two opposites "fire" and "ice" in his interview.
1. Research. Agam also uses a combination of folds underneath his flat images to "change" them as a viewer walks past. This is what he calls his "fourth dimension"because the depth and visibility changes. Below is a video of an Agam piece as the viewer walks by. How many images do you see?
2. Brainstorm. Think of two contrasting images. Contrast means different. . . dark/light, cool/warm, sad/happy. Draw two thumbnails (each containing two contrasting images). Look below at some student examples for inspiration.
3. Create! After your thumbnails are approved, complete the below colored pencil technique page and draw your final design.
